The law firm of Ribitwer & Sabbota L.L.P. was founded in 1981. Firm principles Mitchell Ribitwer and Jerome "Jerry" Sabbota are both former assistant Oakland County prosecutors who have been awarded AV ratings by Martindale Hubbell, an honor indicative of the highest levels of skill and integrity in the practice of criminal law. They stress the following principles in their practice:

  • Education - Mitchell Ribitwer and Jerome "Jerry" Sabbota both received their undergraduate degrees from Wayne State University and their legal degrees from the Detroit College of Law.

  • Experience - Mitchell Ribitwer and Jerome "Jerry" Sabbota are both former assistant Oakland County prosecutors with decades of experience in every area of criminal law, from misdemeanor drunk driving offenses to felony murder. They are both members of the Criminal Defense Attorneys Association of Michigan, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Oakland County Bar Association, the Michigan Bar Association (Criminal Law Section), and former members of the National District Attorneys Association, the Oakland County Council for Children at Risk, and Oakland County Youth Assistance. They have lectured extensively and acted as instructors in numerous seminars sponsored by the Criminal Defense Attorneys Association, the Oakland County Bar Association, and various other attorney groups and organizations.

  • Effectiveness - Ribitwer & Sabbota is a smaller criminal defense firm by choice. Our attorneys know our clients by name, not case number, and personally manage every aspect of a case, providing exceptional criminal defense services at competitive rates to clients throughout Detroit and the counties of Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Livingston, and Lapeer. Others value our opinions, as both of our attorneys have been interviewed extensively on a variety of topics and have appeared as commentators on various programs, including local Detroit news stations, the Detroit News, the Detroit Free Press, the Oakland Press, the Royal Oak Tribune, the Eccentric & Observer papers, Current Affair, NBC Dateline, CNBC Television, Geraldo Riviera, Court Television, Kelly & Co., Bonds Tonight, Due Process Television Program, and the Johnnie Cochrane Program.

  • Communication - When clients are contacted by the police or arrested and charged with crimes, we understand the obvious need for timely and efficient legal responses. Clients and their families need to know where they stand at all times, so that they can properly consider all of their options and make good decisions. Our lawyers communicate effectively with clients throughout each stage of the legal process. Telephone calls and emails are returned promptly, questions are answered in plain English, and clients are kept up-to-date on every aspect of their case.

We offer free initial consultations, provide emergency service, maintain flexible office hours, and keep clients personally informed of the status of their case. If you have been contacted by the police or charged with a state or federal crime in the Detroit's area, including the counties of Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Livingston, Lapeer or anywhere else in Michigan for that matter, please contact the criminal defense lawyers at Ribitwer & Sabbota L.L.P. today.
