Have You Been Accused of Child Molestation?
Child molestation charges — with or without a conviction — can dramatically affect the life of the accused. Public opinion of an alleged child molester is unforgiving and sadly, carries no burden of proof.
At Ribitwer & Sabbota, L.L.P, we protect the rights of clients accused of child molestation. To find out how we can help you if you have been charged with criminal sexual conduct, contact us online or call us toll free at (866) 560-7029. We provide free consultations.
Charges of Child Molestation
The penalties for a child molestation conviction are severe. When the victim is under 13, the penalty is a mandatory minimum of 25 years in prison and registration as a sex offender. This crime is considered first degree criminal sexual conduct.
If the victim is between the ages of 13 and 16 and a member of the same household, charges are also classified as first degree criminal sexual conduct, because the accused is in a position of authority.
Any person accused of child molestation — guilty or not, convicted or not — can suffer emotionally and socially. Society offers little forgiveness to anyone accused of a sex crime - often assuming guilt and ignoring facts and evidence. As criminal defense lawyers, we know the importance of sticking to the facts and thoroughly investigating a case.
